Topic 1 of 7
Number and Place Value
How it’s taught in school
Students learn to count in multiples of 4, 8, 50, and 100, and find 10 or 100 more or less than a given number. They focus on understanding the place value of each digit in three-digit numbers.
Try it at home
- Use a place value chart and have your child write numbers in the hundreds, tens, and units columns to practise identifying place values.
- Play a number game where you say a three-digit number, and your child finds 10 more, 10 less, 100 more, and 100 less.
- Create flashcards with multiples of 4, 8, 50, and 100 for practice, and challenge them to find patterns in the sequences.
